Eyelid micropigmentation is the process of permanently applied eyeliner on the upper or lower eyelid. The perfect eyeliner is something that many women around the world dream of. This is mainly due to the application itself, which can often take a while. Drawing the perfect eyeliner on both eyes can sometimes be challenging and time consuming. Of course, there are always exceptions.
Even if you are experienced in applying eyeliner, you still find yourself in a situation where the products you use do not stay on the skin. For example, if you use eyeliners or cream products to apply eyeliner, it often happens that they do not stay on the skin. It looks very messy in the end. Especially during the summer months, high temperatures don’t let your makeup last, so certain products literally ‘melt’ off your face.
This is where eyelid micropigmentation comes into play, which is essentially a semi-permanent tattoo on the eyelids. The micropigmentation process is non-invasive and painless, and in just 2 hours you will have a perfectly drawn eyeliner that lasts. Read below why to opt for eyelid micropigmentation in Marra studio, what makes us special and what the eyeliner shading process looks like.
Eyeliner history
If we go back in time, we can notice that eyeliner, like most decorative cosmetics comes from ancient Egypt. Women and men used cosmetic poducts to protect their skin from the sun. Eyeliner was a way to prevent the formation of wrinkles around the eyes and made eyes stand out even more. Cosmetic products were of course reserved for those of high status in society, which continued until the fall of Egypt under the Roman Empire. Women continued the tradition of wearing eyeliner, as it was considered not only a fashion trend, but a way through which they celebrated their religion. Eyeliner continued to be a major makeup accessory in Asia, however, it did not return to Europe until 1920s, when it was celebrated again by Hollywood, theater, and musicians.
Eyelid micropigmentation – what does the treatment look like?
First of all, it’s important to know that eyelid micropigmentation treatment is adapted to each face. That is why in the end the eyeliner looks as natural as possible and is adjusted to your face. We consider eyelid micropigmentation to be a type of tattoo, however, using this technique, the blade does not penetrate deep into the skin, so the effect is semi-permanent. Upon arrival to your treatment, a local anesthetic is applied, which is why any unpleasant sensations are minimized. Pigmentation is done on the surface layer of the skin, with a thin micro needle, which is flexible and gentle, so clients sometimes opt for treatment without anesthetics. Even in that case, eyelid micropigmentation is not a painful process.
After about 20 minutes, the anesthetic is removed, and we sketch the eyeliner that fits your face by hand, of course respecting your wishes. With many years of experience in permanent make-up, we always try to explain to you what kind of semi-permanent eyeliner would suit your eyes and face, especially if you do not prefer to put on make-up every day. Our philosophy is to shade more moderately and as naturally as possible on the first treatment, and to increase the intensity at your second treatment, if that is your wish. Shading is done with an apparatus with which we also do powder brows. The micro needle we use expels tiny pigment particles and inserts them into the surface layer of the skin. This technique allows us to make the eyeliner look very neat and durable, whether you prefer a thin defined line on the eyelid or a blended eyeliner.
